INTRODUCING CULTURE COLLECTIVE ACTING INTENSIVE
In 2015, artist / teacher Loni Berry created Culture Collective Studio, an English speaking theatre in Bangkok, Thailand. The award-winning theatre is now hosting a 12-day acting training intensive. A maximum of 12 international students participate in this unique multi-cultural experience.
Students share their time between class work in Culture Collective's black box theatre and field-trips to historical and famous sites. The classwork includes workshops with master teachers in Thai dance, Thai puppetry, and Thai theatre makeup. Students then incorporate their experiences into an original / collaborative interpretation of a Thai story. The workshop culminates with a final performance presented to a public audience.
Students also study the Gister Method of Acting (developed by Earl Gister, former chair of the Yale School of Drama’s MFA acting program), with focus on character development and text analysis. In addition, there will be a guest master teacher that will focus on either acting, speech, or diction.
